If Sunday brunch means big, spacious, and lots of live cooking stations with chefs in motion, Amaya Food Gallery is where you would like to go. Stepping into the dining area of Amaya Food Gallery, the high ceiling and enormous 450-seat dining area take your breath away! Each station in the buffet line features live cooking station with chefs in motion. It just excites diners the moment they see all the chefs at their stations preparing the food. The spaciousness of the dining area is complemented by the natural sunlight penetrating from the wall-sized windows on the right of the restaurant, making Amaya Food Gallery cozier and more comfortable.

How’s the buffet line?

The buffet line for the Sunday brunch at Amaya Food Gallery is extensive. It is absolutely a visual delight. Despite the enormous dining area, diners can still easily catch the sight of each food station with its ground-to-ceiling structure. Let us unveil all the food stations to you.

(1) Live carving station

This station is the very first station you will see once you step into Amaya Food Gallery. Steak, lamb racks, pork chops, chicken steak, etc. are grilled fresh right in front of you. It’s clever to put this station right at the entrance as the aroma from the grill probably catches brunchers’ appetite. A DIY salad bar is placed opposite this station, giving diners healthy choices of fresh greens and veggies.

(2) Indian station

The Indian station is just adjacent to the craving station, at a corner near the wall-sized windows. This station features popular savoury and vegetarian Indian dishes such as biryani, curry, tandoori roasted meat, dal and garlic cheese naan. The food here may stuff you full, take the eating-like-a-bird strategy to experience the taste of India.

(3) Fresh seafood and Japanese station

This is obviously the most popular station with the longest queue. Seafood on ice features Alaska crabs, local and New Zealand mussels, river prawns, prawns and blue crabs. Several kinds of oysters (from Korea, Ireland, and France) are available for diners. They are shucked to order, so remember to take your table tag with you when ordering them. Japanese food, such as sushi and sashimi, is also served. The sushi is fair, I would prefer a little thicker, heartier piece of fish on top. If you are a sashimi lover, you may need to run several times to get full satisfaction.

(4) Open bar

The brunch buffet is priced at THB 1,800++ per person inclusive of drinking water; THB 2,999++ per person inclusive of wines, soft drinks, water and fresh fruit juices; or THB 3,500++ per person with an inclusion of Champagne. If you wish to enjoy free flow of drinks from the open bar, the last two options are your choices.

(5) Italian station

This station is located behind the open bar. It is the station where you could get a la minute pasta and Foie gras. The portion of the Foie gras is rather small. Some degree of generosity in serving portion could have made my Sunday mood happier. The cold cuts served here is lovely and wa best to pair with a glass of red wine.

The joy that this station brings is an array of dim sum and delicious Hong Kong-styled roasted meat including cha siu, roasted duck, crispy pork belly and suckling pig. As a Hongkie, I would like to stamp these Cantonese delicacies as ‘authentic’. Thai food lovers will love the made-to-order somtum and yum dishes, but you may wish to tell the chef how you wish your somtum or yum is made.

(7) Dessert

The dessert station is heaven for sweet lovers. It is where you can find both local and western sweets. Ice-creams, crepe, chocolate fountain, traditional Thai sweets, and shaved ice with flavoured syrup, etc. are ready to serve diners. On the day of our visit, we were not very satisfied with the ice-cream. As the ice-cream was not probably frozen, we experienced semi-melting ice-cream.

(8) Cheese Room

The cheese room is a valuable addition to the Sunday brunch. Cheese lovers will probably show their big grins once they enter the cheese room. There are lots of choices with plenty of condiments to go with the cheese.
